Senior Associate

Experience Highlights
Human Health Risk Assessment:  Evaluated numerous sites for a variety of exposure pathways and scenarios. Evaluated
volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in groundwater, soil, and ambient and indoor air for various residential, industrial, and
recreational receptors at military installations, former landfills, and manufactured gas plants.  Also evaluated polynuclear aromatic
hydrocarbons (PAHs) in soil and ambient and indoor air at a former crude oil pump station for industrial receptors to help the
property owners determine potential future land uses.

Ecological Risk Assessment:  Evaluated several sites for various exposure pathways and scenarios to ecological receptors.
Evaluated VOCs, PAHs, and metals in soil, ambient air and burrow air, and surface water for a variety of ecological receptors
including kangaroo rats, red tail hawks, burrowing owls, and desert tortoises (
Gopherus afassizii), which are listed as a Threatened
Species by the federal government.

Preliminary Endangerment Assessment:  Assisted with the completion of several PEAs for Bay Area elementary schools and
other facilities. As part of a California schools program, assisted in the evaluation of VOCs, PAHs, and metals in soil, ambient air,
and indoor air for residential, industrial, and recreational receptors at proposed school sites. Also assisted in the evaluation of VOCs
and methane in soil vapor to industrial receptors at a storage facility built on a former landfill.

Litigation Support:  Provided technical assistance on a number of litigation cases. Researched and summarized toxicological
information on tobacco smoke, asbestos, and radon. Also researched and wrote opinion papers on the etiology of various cancers
(e.g., lung, bladder, and laryngeal) and communicable diseases (e.g., sarcoidosis, strongyloides, and human papillomavirus).
